Turn LAU research into your advantage.
Seven schools, one point of contact. Licence what exists, sponsor what doesn't yet, or build with the Industrial Hub, with IP terms agreed up front.
Four ways to work with LAU.
01
Licence a technology
Exclusive, non-exclusive or field-of-use licences to patents, software, know-how and research tools. Express licences for software and tools at published terms.

How an agreement comes together.
Four steps, the same for a licence, an option or a sponsored project.
- Step 1.
Tell us the problem or the technology
Through the request form or a call. The TTO finds the lab, or confirms what is available to license.
- Step 2.
NDA, then detail
Confidential material, data and code are shared under a standard non-disclosure agreement.
- Step 3.
One-page term sheet
Scope, field, exclusivity, fees, royalties and milestones, agreed before any long document.
- Step 4.
Option, licence or sponsored project
An option buys time to decide; a licence grants the rights; a sponsored research agreement funds new work with IP terms stated up front.
Sample agreements are on the About page.
Common questions.
[1]What's the difference between the four partnership models?
Licensing gives you rights to existing IP. Sponsored research creates new results for you. The Industrial Hub builds what you specify for a fee. Ecosystem partnership is a standing relationship across all three.
[2]How long does a licence take?
It depends on the technology and the terms. Express licences are the fastest route; negotiated licences take longer. The TTO sets expectations at the first call.
[3]Who do I contact to get started?
The TTO Officer, Samer El Kadi, at tto@lau.edu.lb, or the request form on this site.
[4]Is there a cost, and how is it resourced?
Licences carry fees and royalties set by the technology. Sponsored research is funded by the sponsor. Industrial Hub work is quoted per project.
